As it was in 1788 when the first Chamber of Commerce was formed in America, the Bataan Chamber of Commerce and Industry adhered to its original calling being the “voice” of business in Bataan. It represents the business sector of the province through active involvement in various business advocacy and support programs. A non-profit organization that operates through membership fees and annual dues, it continues to support various programs and projects that are beneficial to the business community and to the individual member. The policies and programs are determined by the Board of Directors elected by the general membership. The Executive Director delegated by the President organizes and implements the policies.

 

The Chamber of Commerce in Bataan was spearheaded by Mr. Rolando Dizon in 1991 and was duly registered later at the Securities and Exchange Commission. It embodies the business sector in the province with the goal of streamlining businesses towards economic growth. To date, BACCII is led by Mr. John Calugay, a former bank executive with a degree in Economics from the University of the Philippines, and currently, a business and financial consultant to some enterprise and individual entrepreneurs.

 

True to its mandate of being the voice of the business community, it remains an independent channel for the development and economic growth of businessmen and entrepreneurs in the province. To wit:

 

1. It serves as the lead organization in the crafting of policies for the benefit of the business community in Bataan in collaboration with relevant stakeholders;

 

2. It serves as a forum for the business sector to identify, address, and resolve business-related concerns for the betterment of the business community;

 

3. It fosters, enhances, and maintains effective business relations among members and the community served;

 

4. It promotes, supports, and develops local enterprises through its various advocacy; and

5. It contributes to economic growth and development by providing business collaborations and opportunities for business development, marketing and research, promotions, expediting needs, employment, trading, tourism, among others.
